Teachings of Guru Granth Sahib (Page 526) :
Aant kaal jo lakshmi simrai, aisi chinta mein jo marai,Sarp jon val val utrai;
At the last moment he who thinks of his wealth and dies in this thought,
he is born again and again in the serpent species;
Aant kaal jo istree simrai, aisi chinta mein jo marai, vaishya jon val val paye;
At the last moment he who thinks of his woman and dies in this thought, he is born again and again as a prostitute;
Aant kaal jo ladke simrai, aisi chinta mein jo marai, sookar jon val val utrai;
At the last moment he who thinks of his sons and dies in their thought, he is born again and again as a swine (as a swine has many of his small ones around him);
Aant kaal jo mandar simrai, aisi chinta mein jo marai, pret jon val val paaye ;
At the last moment he who thinks of his mansions and dies in this thought, he is born again and again as a goblin;
Aant kaal jo Narayan simrai, aisi chinta mein jo marai,
Nanak, te nar muktaa pitambar aake taake hridai baase;
At the last moment he who thinks of the Lord and dies in such a thought,
Nanak says : man is emancipated and the yellow robed Lord comes to abide in his heart.
Taan manukh, Gobind naam naa bisrai.
hence mankind is advised, not to forget the name of Narayan.
